As many of you will have recently received your child's reception school places, we know that there will be some celebrations and some disappointments.
As parents and caregivers, choosing a school for our children is one of the most important decisions we will make. We want our children to be happy, we want them to be in in an environment where they will thrive and succeed, and we also want them to have fun!
Starting school is a huge step for some children and they may need all the support that they can get to be ready. They may be starting a school that is separate from the nursery they attend, so may not be moving with any familiar faces. Some children are home taught for their early years, and may not necessarily be familiar with some of the routines that nurseries and schools have.
On the flip side, we will also have children that will be super excited and love the idea of a new school adventure. If they're anything like my children were, they will literally ran into their reception classroom and not even look back!
As parents and caregivers, we want to ensure that our children are prepared for this milestone and equally prepare ourselves.
Some schools may operate on a staggered intake, where the children come in for a few hours in order to help them settle in. Whereas some schools may stagger the intake by giving the children different start dates, so there are less children starting at the same time. This can pose a problem for working or studying parents, particularly if your child is attending only for a few hours per day to begin with.
In order to help our parents and care givers, we have organised a 'Let's Get Reception Ready' webinar for 2nd May 2021 at 1pm, to answer any questions that you may have, and to let you know what to expect for both you and your child (including what the schools don't tell you!).
Places are limited, so book here now to avoid disappointment!
