Have You Seen My Giraffe? by Michelle Robinson and Claire Powell

This month, we're reading our wonderful Have You Seen My Giraffe? by Michelle Robinson and Claire Powell. This fun story is full of humour, adventure and friendship, making it a lovely choice for you and your Bookworm Babies to enjoy together.

In the story, a little girl searches high and low for her missing giraffe. Along the way, we are encouraged to join in the fun, looking for where the giraffe might be hiding. The playful rhymes and vibrant illustrations make this book perfect for developing early language skills, vocabulary and a love of reading.

Reading books like Have You Seen My Giraffe? also encourages children to use their imagination, build attention skills and develop an understanding of storytelling. This story gives opportunities to engage with your Bookworm Babies and ask questions such as: "Where do you think the giraffe is hiding?" This helps to develop their skills in observation and comprehension, which are important foundations for developing reading confidence.

June is also World Giraffe Day, which is celebrated each year on 21st June. World Giraffe Day shines a spotlight on these amazing animals and raises awareness about the work that goes into giraffe conservation.

• Giraffes are the tallest animals in the world! Adult males can grow up to nearly 6 metres tall!

• Every giraffe has a unique pattern of spots, just like human fingerprints.

• Giraffes only need around 30 minutes to 2 hours of sleep each day, often sleeping in short naps.
